Atume Doosuur yesterday evening delivered a comfortable 1-0 win at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in match day 2 to lift Edo Queens up and also secure their first win of the 2025 /2026 season of the Nigeria Women Football League premiership.
The sensational striker came with the opener in 15th minute of play when she headed a cross ball from one of her teammate into the far post beating goalkeeper Obia Christy of Heartland Queens to it.
Edo Queens started the game on an impressive note mounting pressure on the visitors, creating chances, had superb control of the first quarter of the game.

The visitors came back in second period looking more charged making the stage set for an enthralling contest between two sides. It was a fascinating match as Edo Queens took the battle to them with excessive pressure.
The second half unfolded slowly as both sides needed time to rediscover their rhythm. Half- chances emerged at either end, yet neither team appeared willing- or able -to deliver the decisive moment that would have made the difference.
But at the end of the day, Edo Queens had an emphatic 1-0 win over their opponent smiling away with the needed three maximum points.
The Benin Queens have so far played two games, lost one and win one. They would be on their way to Ekiti State next week for their second away game of the new season against Ekiti Queens in match day 3.
Speaking on his team performance coach Moses Aduku of Edo Queens said:
“Well, is a nice game, my girls played very well, got their chance and took it. This is our first Home game and you know how important it is for you to win.”
“Again Heartland Queens is not a push over side, they won their first game at home. So they came here fo business. This is just our second game of the season, the most important thing is that we won.”
