…Team vow to bring trophy to Nigeria-

Nigerian representatives to the CAF Women’s Champions League competition starting this weekend in Morocco, Edo Queens FC will tomorrow morning depart Nigeria for Casablanca as hostility for the annual event begins on November 9th 2024, in Morocco the North African country.

Addressing the players and officials at the conference Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City yesterday, Edo State Sports Commission boss, Yussuf Alli, charged the contingent to be good ambassador, stressing that as WAFU-B Champions, he is very confident that Edo Queens will bring the CAF Women’s prestigious trophy to Edo State.

“You were all here on Monday evening, to collect your travelling allowances, and I do know that you are all happy. So today I have gathered you all here again to tell us that the good people of Edo State are solidly behind you girls, so go to Morocco, win for yourselves, win for Edo State and win for Nigeria.”

“You have made me proud, and I want you to carry on with that same winning spirit that you exhibited during the WAFU-B play-off. What you are seeing here are all your kits, everyone of you will be fully kited. We have given you everything you needed to excel in Morocco so go there and make us proud.

“You are also aware that there is change of government, for me I will not be going with you tomorrow, I have to wait for the hand over ceremony, but hopefully I will be joining you next week.”

“For the winning bonuses and other allowances, your money is safe, off course we will pay you after every game played and won. We cannot pay you when the competition has not started. But I want to say that we have made enough incentives motivational gifts for you all, just go there and win then the commission will do the rest.”

Meanwhile, Captain of the team Efe Osakpolor, commended the State government and the Sports commission for their supports in making the dream a reality.

“Sir, on behalf of the entire team, I want to thank the State government and the Commission for their unrelenting supports, but for them this dream won’t have been possible. I want to say also that we are ready for the battle, we are going to Morocco to win. With God on our side we would deliver and make Edo State and Nigeria proud”.

The contingent is expected leave Lagos on Thursday morning for Casablanca, while in Morocco, they will be logging in Ebis Hotel & Suits.
A total of 25 players and some officials will be travelling on the trip.
Bags and kits were distributed to the players and officials during the farewell ceremony.
